Supported Languages for Social Media Video Transcripts

Video to Text supports 130+ language codes and language variants for public social media video transcripts. You can paste a supported public video link from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, or Twitter, select a preferred transcript language, and export the result as TXT, CSV, SRT, or VTT.

The social media transcript workflow differs from uploaded-file transcription. It requests a transcript for the public video in the language you choose. If the requested language is not available for that video, the service returns the available default language instead.

How preferred language selection works

Select a language before starting the transcript request. This tells Video to Text which transcript language you prefer for the public social media video.

The preferred language is not a guarantee that a specific translation exists for every video. When the requested language is unavailable, Video to Text returns the default transcript language available for the source video. This is especially relevant for videos that only provide one caption or transcript language.

For the best result, choose the spoken language when you know it. Choose a different language only when you expect the public video to have a transcript in that language.
